WEYMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's lacrosse team suffered a 17-0 setback to Mitchell Wednesday afternoon in the final contest of the 2022 campaign.
The Lions finish the program's inaugural season with an 0-12 overall record and an 0-4 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Mariners improve to 4-11 on the year and 2-2 in league action with the win.
Before the start of the game, the Eastern Nazarene men's lacrosse team honored its first-ever graduating class: Matt Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.), Jimmy Keuther (Marshfield, Mass.), Nathan Kindt (Quincy, Mass.), and Paulin Sano (Portland, Maine).
Devano Clarke (Lucea, Jamaica), Jamar Griggs (Stamford, Conn.), and Cawthorne all registered eight shots and three ground balls. Keuther chipped in with five shot attempts while Andrew James (Hyannis, Mass.) tallied two shots and three ground balls.
The visitors manufactured eight goals in the first quarter and added three goals in the second frame. Mitchell notched five goals in the third period and tacked on one goal in the fourth.
Ryan Almeida (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) racked up 11 saves in his 12th start of the season in goal.
John Porcelli paced the Mariners with five goals. Aidan Messuri record four goals and a pair of assists while Weston Schumacher collected three goals and one assist.
