NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's lacrosse team suffered a 17-5 setback at Mitchell Saturday afternoon.
The Lions sink to 0-10 on the season and 0-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the result. The Mariners improve to 3-10 overall and 1-1 in conference action with the win.
Jamar Griggs (Stamford, Conn.) racked up four goals on the day while Devano Clarke (Lucea, Jamaica) added one goal. Andrew James (Hyannis, Mass.) dished out a career-high three assists and collected four ground balls. Jimmy Keuther (Marshfield, Mass.) chipped in with one assist and a team-high five ground balls.
The hosts managed three goals in the opening quarter to grab a 3-0 lead.
Eastern Nazarene tallied three scores while Mitchell manufactured five goals in the second frame to hold an 8-3 advantage at the half.
The Lions chalked up one goal in the third period and the Mariners registered five goals to own a 13-4 lead heading into the final quarter.
The visitors posted one goal in the fourth while the home side netted four goals to secure its first league win of the spring.
Ryan Almeida (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) finished with 17 saves between the pipes in his 10th start.
Aidan Messuri paced Mitchell with four goals and one assist in the contest. Ethan LePain notched two goals and five assists while John Porcelli recorded three goals.
