SALEM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's lacrosse team suffered a 27-2 loss at Salem State Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions slide to 0-7 on the year with the result while the Vikings improve to 5-3 overall with the win.
Matt Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.) and Jamar Griggs (Stamford, Conn.) each tallied goals while Micah Vazquez (Weymouth, Mass.) added an assist. Jimmy Keuther (Norwell, Mass.) scooped up a team-high eight ground balls and Xavier Depina (Whitman, Mass.) finished with four ground balls.
Cawthorne netted a man-up goal with less than seven minutes remaining in the first quarter for his third score of the season.
The home side owned a 9-1 advantage through 15 minutes of action and tacked on nine goals in the second to widen the margin to 18-1.
Salem State produced five goals in the third and registered four tallies in the final frame.
Griggs notched his team-leading 14th goal of the spring with 4:01 left to play in regulation as Vazquez picked up his first collegiate assist.
Ryan Almeida (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) recorded 11 saves in his seventh start and Walter Stockwell (Hyde Park, Mass.) posted eight saves in his third appearance.
