Men’s Lacrosse Upended at Albertus Magnus, Keuther Nets Program’s First-Ever Goal
NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's lacrosse team absorbed a 26-4 loss at Albertus Magnus Sunday afternoon.
The Lions slip to 0-2 on the season with the setback while the Falcons improve to 3-1 overall with the win.
Jamar Griggs (Baltimore, Md.) notched three goals while Jimmy Keuther (Marshfield, Mass.) posted one goal, six ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Xavier Depina (Whitman, Mass.) paced the squad with seven ground balls and added three caused turnovers. Devano Clarke (Lucea, Jamaica) scooped up six ground balls and Kellen Lee (Henderson, Nev.) chipped in with five ground balls.
The home team scored six goals in the first quarter and tacked on seven goals in the second to hold a 13-0 halftime advantage.
With 2:32 remaining in the third frame, Keuther buried Eastern Nazarene's first-ever goal for his first tally of the spring.
Albertus Magnus managed six goals in the third to widen the gap to 19-1 heading to the fourth quarter.
Griggs netted his first collegiate goal less than a minute into the fourth period and picked up his second tally of the game with 13:33 left to play in regulation. The rookie collected his third goal of the game and second man-up score with 2:05 on the clock.
The Falcons outscored the Lions 7-3 in the final frame to secure their first home victory of the season.
Rookie netminder Ryan Almeida (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) registered a career-high 19 saves in his second start of the year.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host Northern Vermont-Lyndon March 15 in the program's first-ever home game.
