Baseball Earns Three All-NECC Nods
MANSFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team landed three on the All-New England Collegiate Conference Team, announced the league office Wednesday.
Tyler Bean (Wellington, Fla.), Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.), and Jon Tessier (Coronado, Calif.) were selected to the All-NECC Team while Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) claimed a spot on the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
Bean collected 39 hits, 27 runs scored, 24 RBIs, and seven stolen bases this season. He owns a batting average of .390 to go with a .471 on-base percentage. In conference action, Bean posted a .353 batting average and registered 12 hits, eight runs scored, and seven RBIs while swiping three bags.
McNamara has seen action in all 38 games this spring while recording a batting average of .323. He has notched 42 base knocks, 32 runs scored, 31 RBIs, and eight stolen bases. In league competition, McNamara tallied 11 hits with 10 RBIs and eight runs scored.
Tessier started seven games on the mound and made 10 relief appearances this spring. He compiled a team-best 7-1 record with two saves. In 74.1 innings of action, Tessier racked up 63 strikeouts. The junior right-hander tossed three complete games in league play and posted a 3-1 record.
Jimenez appeared in 33 contests this spring while contributing with 22 hits, 11 RBIs, and eight runs scored. He saw action in all 11 conference games and chalked up seven hits.
Eastern Nazarene finished the regular season with a 20-17-1 overall record to go with a 5-5-1 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Lions grabbed the No. 3 seed and will face second-seeded Mitchell on the opening day of the NECC Tournament May 6 at New England College.
