Bio

Donald Eads (72) played basketball at ENC from 1970-1972, scoring 1,770 career points as a guard and helping ENC to 51 wins in his two seasons. Don was selected to appear in the 1972 edition of Outstanding College Athletes in America. During the 1971-72 season, Don finished as the fourth highest NAIA scorer in the nation. He set a new single season ENC record of 1,039 points and a single game record of 49 points.

Don helped the Crusaders to a second place NCCAA finish in the 1970-71 season and a fourth place finish in the 1971-72 season. At the NCCAA tournament, Eads set a single game tournament record of 42 points. He also helped ENC take first place at King’s Tournament both seasons that he played.

He was the first to receive a college degree in his family. He played college basketball for four years and baseball for two years. He is also inducted in the Cougars Hall of Fame at Mount Vernon Nazarene College (now University), the college from which he transferred to ENC.

Don is a retired teacher and coach. He served as a high school physical education and health teacher in Florida and Ohio for 33 years and coached basketball, baseball and volleyball for 20 years. He is living in Florida and enjoys keeping up with the athletic endeavors of his nine grandchildren.
