Eastern Nazarene Granted Associate Membership in NECC for Men’s Volleyball
ATTLEBORO, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College has been accepted as an associate member of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) for the sport of men’s volleyball.
The Lions’ men’s volleyball program will begin competition in the spring of 2017.
Eastern Nazarene will play a full conference slate against the seven other NECC institutions next year and will be eligible for postseason competition immediately.
“We are thrilled to welcome Eastern Nazarene College to the NECC as an associate member for Men’s Volleyball. Eastern Nazarene has a proud history of athletic excellence in all of their sports and we are confident that Men’s Volleyball will be no exception. We know that they will play the game with great energy and a high level of sportsmanship, which is what we seek for from our membership,” said NECC Commissioner Del Malloy.
“We are excited to be received so warmly by the NECC as an associate member for our new men’s volleyball program. Del Malloy, NECC Commissioner, was incredibly helpful as we considered our options. It became evident that the NECC was the right fit for ENC’s Men’s Volleyball program. I also want to extend a thank you to the Presidents and Athletic Directors of the NECC for supporting our inclusion as an associate member,” commented Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Zarges.
Eastern Nazarene joins fellow Commonwealth Coast Conference institution Endicott as an NECC associate member in men’s volleyball. Daniel Webster, Lesley, Newbury, Regis, Southern Vermont and Wheelock are full-time NECC members offering men’s volleyball.
On April 28, Eastern Nazarene announced the hiring of Kaylee Hewitt as the head men’s and women’s volleyball coach. Hewitt is the first-ever head coach of the Lions’ men’s volleyball program and the eighth women’s volleyball head coach in program history.
