2015-16 Fall Academic All-Commonwealth Coast Conference List Unveiled; 24 Eastern Nazarene Student-Athletes Recognized
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College landed 24 student-athletes on the Fall Academic All-Commonwealth Coast Conference list, as announced by the league office Thursday.
The women’s soccer team paved the way for the third-consecutive year with six honorees. Seniors Justine Buchanan (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) were named to the Academic All-Conference team for the third year in a row. All-Commonwealth Coast Conference second team performer Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) also earned the distinction along with Farley who collected All-Commonwealth Coast Conference third team accolades this season.
The Eastern Nazarene women’s tennis program boasted five student-athletes on the list, including sophomore Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) who earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference third team honors in doubles play this fall. Seniors Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Jordan Price (Snow Hill, Md.) both picked up their third career Academic All-CCC nod.
The Lions’ women’s cross country and volleyball teams also garnered five honorees while the men’s soccer squad placed two on the list. Junior Greg Whitney (Henniker, N.H.) was the lone representative from the men’s cross country program.
Seniors Michael Peter (Darlington, Md.) of the men’s soccer team, women’s cross country’s Jill Russell (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and volleyball’s Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) all received Academic All-Conference laurels for the third-straight year.
The Academic All-Conference honor rewards varsity student-athletes who attain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher. The Fall Academic All-Conference Team encompasses student-athletes who participated in the sports of men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis, and women’s volleyball.
A total of 447 student-athletes representing the league’s 10 member institutions were recognized.
