
Eastern Nazarene Garners 25 Winter/Spring Academic All-NECC Honorees
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College placed 25 student-athletes on the Winter/Spring Academic All-New England Collegiate Conference list, as announced by the league office recently.
In order to be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference honors, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00, and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's track & field and men's volleyball were eligible for the award.
The Lions' women's basketball team and NECC champion softball team earned six selections each while the baseball squad collected five nods. The ENC men's basketball team garnered four honorees and the women's track and field team landed a pair while the men's track and field and men's volleyball programs each garnered one recipient.
Among the recipients were five all-conference performers and two Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team honorees. Softball All-NECC selections Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.), Rebecca Hayner (Halfmoon, N.Y.), Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.), and Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) were all recognized on the Academic All-NECC list along with baseball's Briley Seiter (Bellevue, Ky.) who claimed a spot on the All-NECC second team this spring. Women's basketball graduate student Courtney Barba (Pismo Beach, Calif.) added Academic All-NECC laurels after earning D3Hoops.com All-East/Northeast Region second team accolades this season.
Academic All-Conference honorees Rebecca Hayner and Andres Medina were both named to the Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team in the spring.
