Eastern Nazarene Garners 18 Academic All-NECC Honorees
QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College landed 18 student-athletes on the Fall Academic All-New England Collegiate Conference list, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
In order to be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference honors, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00, and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball were eligible for the award.
The NECC recognized 204 total student-athletes from the league's eight core member institutions as well as four associate members.
The Lions' NECC champion men's soccer team earned six selections while the women's soccer squad and NECC champion women's volleyball team each collected five nods. The ENC men's and women's cross country teams garnered one honoree each.
Among the recipients were six all-conference performers and four Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team honorees. Men's soccer's Charlie Swann (London, England) was named the NECC Player of the Year and women's volleyball senior Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) earned All-NECC first team accolades this fall. Women's soccer sophomore Maider Ruiz de Erenchun (Acosta, Alava, Spain), men's soccer's Tyler Ferreira (Berkley, Mass.), and women's volleyball's Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.) and Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) were tabbed to the All-NECC second team during the fall.
Academic All-Conference honorees Michaela Connors, Gabrielle DiCamillo, Jake Donovan, and Elizabeth Gillis were all named to the Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team in the fall.
