ENC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Crafts Blankets for "Bags of Hope"
QUINCY, Mass.- As a part of NCAA Division III Week April 1-6, the Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) dedicated an afternoon to making blankets for Bags of Hope, which were then delivered to the organization's New England headquarters April 5.
Bags of Hope, started in 2011, is an annual orphan care project in which duffle bags are provided to children in foster care, embroidered with their name, and filled with age-appropriate comfort items.
"It was a wonderful conference-wide SAAC initiative to have each school donate handmade blankets to an organization of their choice," reflected SAAC advisor and Director of Athletics Toni Kabilian. "We had fun as a group making them and are always happy to help those in need."
Providing service to the community is part of the mission of the ENC Athletic Department.
"The opportunity to care and support those around us is something we want to continually embrace. We want to demonstrate the importance of helping the community and letting people know they are not alone," said SAAC president and softball student-athlete Viviana Coix (Warrenville, Ill.).
