Women’s Cross Country Competes at Emmanuel Saints Invitational Friday
BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's cross country team placed 17th at the 10th annual Emmanuel College Saints Invitational at Franklin Park Friday.
Jill Russell (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) paced the Lions' contingent with a time of 23:01. BreAnna Fraser (Henderson, Nev.) clocked in at 25:02 and Dezirae Maffit (Aurora, Ill.) crossed the finish line on Fraser's heels just six seconds later at 25:08.
Lauren Kett (Norwich, England), Jessica Franco (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Christina Saint-Pierre (Lantana, Fla.) also competed for Eastern Nazarene.
Emmanuel, the host school, captured the team title after placing three finishers in the top 10. Fitchburg State sophomore Nicole Gaffney bested the field with a mark of 19:58.
A total of 201 runners representing 22 institutions tackled the terrain Friday.
Up next, the Lions will travel to the Ocean State to compete at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship meet hosted by Roger Williams University October 31.
