Women’s Volleyball’s Courtney McCarthy Chosen for NEWVA Senior Classic All-Star Event
QUINCY, Mass.- Senior Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team has been selected to participate in the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic All-Star event December 8 at ENC's Lahue Physical Education Center.
A two-time All-New England Collegiate Conference first team honoree, McCarthy wrapped up her stellar collegiate career with 101 matches played, 972 kills, 890 digs, 111 service aces, 91 assists, and 59 blocks.
McCarthy started all 24 matches in 2019 and helped the Lions capture the program's first New England Collegiate Conference championship and the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. She ranked fourth in the league with 244 total kills and 2.90 kills per set this season while adding 253 digs, 53 assists, 22 aces, and 19 blocks.
Eastern Nazarene finished the 2019 campaign with a 17-7 overall record to go with an unblemished 7-0 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The top-seeded Lions edged Mitchell 3-2 in the NECC Tournament semifinals before topping New England College 3-1 to clinch the NECC title. McCarthy was named to the NECC All-Tournament team after racking up 28 kills and 36 digs in the squad's two playoff contests.
In the program's NCAA Tournament debut, Eastern Nazarene drew No. 13 Tufts in the opening round and absorbed a 3-0 loss. McCarthy notched seven kills, and four digs in the Lions' NCAA Tournament match.
