Women’s Volleyball Swept at Salve Regina Thursday
NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback at Salve Regina Thursday evening.
The Lions move to 12-6 on the year with the result while the Seahawks improve to 10-13 overall.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) notched a team-high 11 kills and added eight digs. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 14 assists, six kills, and six digs. Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with five kills while Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) registered nine assists. Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) collected 12 digs and Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) posted eight digs to go with three service aces.
The home team captured a 1-0 lead with a 25-20 win in the first set.
Salve Regina doubled its advantage to 2-0 after claiming the second frame 25-19.
The Seahawks secured their third-straight non-conference victory with a 25-20 decision in the third.
Andee Bender paced the hosts with 16 kills on the night while Katie Linekin racked up 20 digs and Meredith Arancio dished out 22 assists.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will head to Salem State October 26.
