Women’s Volleyball Breezes by Becker in Straight Sets
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team returned to the win-column with a 3-0 victory over Becker Monday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
With the win, the Lions elevate to 11-5 on the year and remain undefeated in New England Collegiate Conference competition at 4-0. The Hawks slide to 5-14 overall and 0-3 in league play with the result.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) notched her third triple-double of the season as she racked up 15 kills, 13 assists, and 10 digs. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) posted a team-high 17 digs to go with nine kills. Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.), Jaclyn Teed (Lansdale, Pa.), and Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) all tallied seven kills. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) dished out 23 assists while Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) collected 16 digs.
The home team rolled to a 25-12 decision in the opening set to establish a 1-0 advantage.
Eastern Nazarene widened the margin to 2-0 after prevailing 25-17 in the second frame.
The Lions wrapped up their fourth-straight conference win with a 25-10 victory in the third.
Joanna Bampi and Sofia Cullina led Becker with 15 digs while Olivia McGuinness added 12 digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene hits the road for an NECC tilt at Dean October 16.
