Women’s Volleyball Tripped Up by Gordon, 3-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Gordon Thursday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center in the 92nd all-time meeting between the two squads.
The Lions dip to 10-5 on the season with the outcome while the Fighting Scots improve to 10-8 overall.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) paced Eastern Nazarene with eight kills, 13 assists, and 17 digs. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) contributed with 17 digs and six kills. Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.) notched seven kills while Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) posted nine assists. Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with 14 digs and Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) added 12 digs on the night.
The guests grabbed a 1-0 lead after eking out a narrow 25-23 victory in the first set.
Gordon stretched its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-20 win in the second frame.
The Fighting Scots sealed their fourth-straight victory with a 25-15 decision in the third game.
Jamie Tafoya led the visitors with 13 kills while Amanda Snyder tallied 12 kills and 17 digs. Ashlyn Gergins dished out a match-high 43 assists and Jenny Curtiss registered 29 digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns to conference competition October 14 at home against Becker.
