Women’s Volleyball Overpowers Bay Path to Remain Unbeaten in League Action
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team earned its fourth-straight regular-season conference victory Saturday afternoon, blanking Bay Path 3-0 at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions improve to 10-4 on the season and 3-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the win. The Wildcats slide to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in league play with the result.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) paced the offensive attack with 10 kills. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 15 assists, seven kills, six service aces, and five digs. Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with seven kills while Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) tallied a team-high nine digs. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) registered seven assists and Gianna Franceschini (Quincy, Mass.) dished out six assists.
The home side cruised to a 25-11 win in the opening set to establish a 1-0 advantage.
Eastern Nazarene rolled to a 25-7 decision in the second frame to widen the gap to 2-0.
The Lions secured their second-consecutive sweep with a 25-13 victory in the third set.
Marissa Courchesne notched seven kills and five digs to lead Bay Path while Delany Ivas added six digs and three kills.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene continues its three-match home-stand October 10 with a non-league clash against Gordon.
