Women’s Volleyball Falls in Five to New England College on Senior Night
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to New England College Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions move to 17-6 on the season and 7-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference with their first league loss. The Pilgrims improve to 12-17 overall and 6-2 in conference action with the win.
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene women's volleyball program recognized Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.), the team's lone senior.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) posted her third triple-double of the season with 22 kills, 21 assists, and 13 digs in the match. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with 11 kills and 21 digs. Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with six kills and a season-high 11 digs. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) dished out 24 assists while Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) tallied 19 digs and Ashman added 11 digs.
The visitors captured the first set 25-21 to establish a 1-0 lead.
The home team battled back to claim the second frame 25-20 to level the contest at 1-1.
Eastern Nazarene jumped ahead 2-1 with a 25-21 victory in the third game.
New England College pulled even at 2-2 after prevailing 25-21 in the fourth.
The Pilgrims earned a 15-11 win in the fifth set to hand the Lions their first conference loss of the fall.
Tihani Ehia finished with 23 digs and 16 kills while Jada Small added 16 kills for New England College.
