Women’s Volleyball Downed by Colby-Sawyer 3-1
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to Colby-Sawyer Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center, snapping a six-match winning-streak.
The Lions move to 6-3 on the year while the Chargers improve to 6-6 overall with the result.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) notched her fifth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 24 assists, seven kills, and seven digs. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) posted a season-high eight kills while Milica Ivanovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) and Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) both tallied six kills on the night. McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) collected a team-high 14 digs and Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) registered 12 assists.
The home side rolled to a 25-18 win in the opening set to establish a 1-0 lead in the match.
The visitors responded with a 25-17 victory in the second frame to knot the contest at 1-1.
Colby-Sawyer claimed a 2-1 edge after prevailing 25-15 in the third game before edging Eastern Nazarene 25-23 in the fourth to clinch the match.
Maddie Bromley paced the Chargers with 17 kills and 11 digs while Anna Allen dished out 35 assists.
