Women’s Volleyball Prevails 3-0 at Mass. Maritime
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team collected its sixth-consecutive victory Monday evening, blanking Mass. Maritime 3-0 at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.
The Lions elevate to 6-2 on the season with the result while the Buccaneers sink to 0-4 overall.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) led the balanced attack with eight kills while Milica Ivanovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) notched seven kills on the night. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 15 assists, eight digs, four kills, and a pair of aces. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) registered 12 assists and Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) tallied 12 digs while Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) added 11 digs.
The visitors sprinted out of the gates and chalked up the first 11 points of the opening set to claim an early 11-0 advantage. Eastern Nazarene extended its commanding lead in the set to 20-1 with nine unanswered points before claiming the frame 25-3.
In a closely-contested second set, the Lions tallied four-straight points to clinch the game 25-22 to widen the margin to 2-0.
The guests posted a 25-17 win in the third to lock up their sixth win in a row, the program's first six-match winning-streak since 1996.
Marie Harrison recorded seven kills and seven digs for Mass. Maritime while Christina Ruggeri racked up 25 digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns home September 19 to host Colby-Sawyer.
