NORTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over Smith and dropped a 3-0 decision to Wheaton in a non-conference tri-match Saturday afternoon at Wheaton College's Emerson Gymnasium.
The Lions progress to 9-10 on the year with the results. The Pioneers dip to 7-9 overall and the Lyons move to 12-7 on the season.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) posted 23 kills, 18 digs, three assists, and one ace on the day. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) finished with 10 kills, seven aces, and 14 digs. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) notched 37 assists, 21 digs, and six kills in the two matches. Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.) chipped in with seven kills while Monica Ly (Quincy, Mass.) added 24 digs on the afternoon.
In their first match of the day, Eastern Nazarene captured a 3-1 victory over Smith.
The Lions established a one-set lead with a 25-20 decision in the first frame.
Eastern Nazarene widened the margin to 2-0 after prevailing 25-18 in the second.
The Pioneers battled back to cut the deficit to 2-1 with a 25-10 win in the third set.
The Lions locked up the victory after claiming the fourth game 25-20.
Eastern Nazarene capped off the day with a three-set loss to Wheaton.
The Lyons eked out a 26-24 win in the first set before sprinting past the Lions 25-9 in the second. The hosts sealed the sweep with a 25-18 victory in the third.
