Women’s Volleyball Falls to Elms in Midweek Matchup, 3-1
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team endured a 3-1 loss to Elms Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions dip to 8-9 on the season with the setback while the Blazers improve to 8-6 overall with the win.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) posted a match-best 15 kills and added 11 digs. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) finished with eight kills and six digs. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) notched 29 assists and 12 digs while McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) chipped in with 13 digs.
The home team raced out to a 1-0 lead after claiming the opening set 25-13.
The guests responded with a narrow 25-22 victory in the second frame to level the match at 1-1.
Elms jumped ahead 2-1 after prevailing 25-18 in the third game.
The Blazers sealed the victory with a 25-16 decision in the fourth.
Hannah Adams led the visitors' balanced attack with 10 kills while Rachel Magnuson, Danielle Redding, and Ayanna Meadows all notched eight kills.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will battle Smith and Wheaton in a tri-match at Wheaton College September 30.
