Women’s Volleyball Falls to Western New England in CCC Opener
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Western New England Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center in the first league match of the season.
The Lions slip to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the setback. The Golden Bears improve to 7-6 on the year and 1-0 in conference competition.
Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) collected a team-best eight kills and added nine digs. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with eight digs and four kills. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) recorded 14 assists and eight digs while Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) notched 13 digs on the night.
The visitors rolled to a 25-10 win in the opening set to take an early 1-0 lead.
Western New England prevailed 25-9 in the second frame to widen the margin to 2-0 in the match.
The Golden Bears claimed the third game 25-12 to clinch their fourth-consecutive victory.
Alona Kornberg paced the guests with 11kills and 11 digs while Cassandra Holmes chipped in with nine kills and a pair of blocks.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will head to Curry for a tri-match September 23. The Lions will face off against Curry in a crucial conference match before battling Bay Path in a non-league showdown.
