Women’s Volleyball Sails Past Mass. Maritime, 3-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team snapped a five-match skid with a 3-0 non-conference win over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Thursday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions improve to 4-6 on the season with the victory while the Buccaneers drop to 1-6 overall.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) led all players with 14 kills on the night while adding five digs and four aces. Hailee Owen (South Portland, Maine) notched six kills while Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) collected a team-high eight digs. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) racked up 22 assists to go with six digs and a pair of aces.
The home team cruised to a 25-11 win in the first set to establish a 1-0 lead.
Eastern Nazarene extended its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-16 victory in the second frame.
The Lions rolled to a 25-10 decision in the third to clinch the match.
Jennifer Roy paced Mass. Maritime with six kills while Michelle Sheehan finished with eight assists and seven digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host a tri-match with Mitchell and Pine Manor September 16.
