Women’s Volleyball Closes Out Conference Play with 3-0 Loss at Gordon
WENHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team absorbed a 3-0 loss at Gordon Tuesday evening to wrap up the league slate.
The Lions sink to 5-17 on the year and 1-8 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the result. The Fighting Scots improve to 12-13 overall and 5-3 in conference action with the win.
Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) paced the visitors with eight kills and added one block. Hailee Owen (South Portland, Maine) chipped in with four kills while Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) posted three kills and seven digs. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) notched seven digs and three aces on the night. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) recorded 13 assists and five digs while Monica Ly (Quincy, Mass.) collected a team-high 13 digs.
The home side prevailed in the opening set 25-17 to establish a 1-0 lead.
Gordon widened the margin to 2-0 with a 25-14 victory in the second game.
The Fighting Scots posted a 25-14 win in the third frame to lock up the victory and snap a five-match skid.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene closes out the 2016 season at home against Dean October 29.
