Women’s Volleyball Falls to the University of New England, 3-1
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to the University of New England Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions drop to 5-15 on the year and 1-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the loss. The Nor'easters improve to 13-8 overall and 3-3 in league play with the outcome.
Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) racked up 13 assists, eight digs, five kills and one ace on the night. Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) finished with five kills and a pair of blocks in the match. Monica Ly (Quincy, Mass.) and Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) both collected 13 digs each.
The home team battled back from a five-point deficit to edge the guests 26-24 in the opening set, establishing a 1-0 lead.
The University of New England leveled the match at one-set-all with a 25-10 win in the second frame.
The Nor'easters grabbed a 2-1 edge after claiming the third game 25-13.
The visitors locked up their third conference win of the fall with a 25-16 decision in the fourth.
Rene Roggenbuck paced the University of New England with a match-high 18 kills while Grayson Szczepaniak notched 10 kills and Kristen Falcinelli added 37 assists.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene travels to Wentworth October 22 for a league clash.
