Women’s Volleyball Swept at Salve Regina, 3-0
NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team absorbed a 3-0 defeat at Salve Regina Wednesday evening.
The Lions slip to 3-12 overall and 0-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the setback. The Seahawks improve to 10-7 on the year and 1-3 in league action with the result.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with four kills on the night while Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) registered 14 assists and three aces. Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) and Madisen Robinson (West Grove, Pa.) led the team defensively with eight digs each.
The home team rolled to a 25-12 win in the first game to grab a 1-0 lead in the match.
Salve Regina picked up a 25-14 victory in the second set to double its advantage to 2-0.
The Seahawks locked up their first conference win of the season with a 25-17 decision in the third frame.
Kat Mendes paced the hosts with 10 kills while Samantha Salwa dished out 34 assists and Meghan Parham tallied 11 digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will partake in a non-league tri-match October 8 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute along with the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
