Women’s Volleyball Edged in Five Sets at Elms, 3-2
CHICOPEE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team endured a hard-fought 3-2 loss at Elms Saturday afternoon.
The Lions progress to 3-10 on the season with the setback while the Blazers improve to 3-12 overall with the win.
Annie Heller (Hudson, N.H.) notched a team-best 10 kills on the day. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with 25 digs, five kills and three aces. Hailee Owen (South Portland, Maine) chipped in with eight kills and four total blocks while Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) posted five kills in the match.
Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) paced all players with a match-high 33 digs to go with four aces and Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) recorded 27 assists, four digs and three kills.
Eastern Nazarene established a 1-0 lead after prevailing in the opening game 25-17.
The home team battle back to narrowly clip the guests 28-26 in the second set, leveling the match at 1-1.
Elms claimed a one-set advantage with a 26-24 decision in the third frame.
The Lions clawed past the Blazers 27-25 in the fourth to force a deciding-fifth game.
In the final set, the hosts nabbed a 15-11 victory to lock up their second consecutive 3-2 win.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns to the court October 3 for a non-conference contest at Suffolk.
