Women’s Volleyball Downed at Western New England in CCC Opener, 3-0
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback in its first conference match of the season Wednesday evening at Western New England.
The Lions fall to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the loss. The Golden Bears improve to 9-3 on the year and 1-0 in league play with the result.
Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) led the visitors with six digs and four kills while Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) chipped in with five digs and four kills on the night. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) finished with 13 assists and Viviana Coix (Warrenville, Ill.) recorded a team-high seven digs.
Eastern Nazarene dropped the first game 25-11 to fall behind 1-0.
Western New England rattled off the final nine points of the second set to prevail 25-10, doubling its advantage to 2-0.
The hosts clinched their first conference win with a 25-13 decision in the third frame.
