Volleyball Falls Short Against Elms on Senior Night, 3-2
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team suffered a heart-breaking 3-2 loss to Elms Thursday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center in the final home match of the season.
The Lions sink to 3-24 on the year while the Blazers improve to 6-17 overall.
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene volleyball program honored its two seniors: Julianna Cameron (Moultonborough, N.H.) and Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.).
Welsh notched her second triple-double of the season, finishing with 20 digs, 19 kills, 11 assists and seven aces. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) collected 18 assists, 12 digs and eight kills. Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) recorded 19 digs while Madisen Robinson (West Grove, Pa.) chipped in with 12 digs.
The visitors cruised to a 25-14 victory in the first set before edging the home side 25-21 in the second frame.
Eastern Nazarene battled back to cut the deficit to 2-1 with a 25-19 win in the third game.
The Lions rolled to a 25-10 decision in the fourth set to level the match at 2-2.
In the decisive fifth frame, Elms prevailed 15-10 to earn its second consecutive victory.
Danielle Redding paced the Blazers with 19 kills while Lindsey McNiff added 15 kills and Carolyn Campbell dished out 35 assists.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene travels to Beverly, Massachusetts to square off against Endicott and St. Joseph's (Conn.) October 31.
