Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Setback to Wentworth
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team absorbed a 3-1 loss to Wentworth Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center in a hard-fought Commonwealth Coast Conference clash.
The Lions sink to 3-22 on the season and 0-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Leopards improve to 9-15 overall and 1-5 in league matches.
Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) posted her first career triple-double with 19 digs, 13 kills and 13 assists on the day. Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) paced the squad with 15 kills while Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) registered 17 assists, nine digs and six kills.
Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) led Eastern Nazarene defensively with 21 digs while Viviana Coix (Warrenville, Ill.) collected 11.
Wentworth tallied the final three points of the opening set to edge the Lions 25-22.
In the second frame, Eastern Nazarene erased an eight-point deficit at 18-10 and scored 15 of the final 16 points of the set to prevail 25-19.
The guests reclaimed a one-set lead with a 25-20 victory in the third game.
The Leopards locked up their first conference win of the season with a 25-19 decision in the fourth set.
Stephanie Nihan and Hannah Bailey each recorded nine kills for Wentworth while Katelyn Carlson dished out 20 assists and Lillie Clark racked up 34 digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene travels to the Ocean State to square off against regionally-ranked Roger Williams October 27.
