Volleyball Blanked by WPI on Homecoming, 3-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team endured a 3-0 loss to Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Homecoming weekend Saturday at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions sink to 3-19 on the year with the setback. The Engineers improve to 16-5 overall with the win.
Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) led the home team with five kills while notching six digs, four assists and two aces. Madisen Robinson (West Grove, Pa.) tallied a pair of kill and five digs while Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) finished with two kills. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) posted five assists and Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) recorded five digs.
The guests cruised to a 25-6 victory in the first set to grab a 1-0 edge.
WPI doubled its lead to 2-0 with a 25-9 win in the second frame.
The Engineers collected their sixth-consecutive victory after claiming the third set 25-14.
Casey Hunt paced the visitors with eight kills on the day while Azita Bakhtyari dished out 11 assists.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene hits the road for a non-conference match at Framingham State October 19.
