BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback Tuesday evening at Newbury.
The Lions slide to 1-7 overall while the Nighthawks improve to 2-6 on the year.
Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) notched a team-high 10 kills on the night. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with 15 digs and four kills. Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) dished out 12 assists while adding eight digs, five service aces and three kills. Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) racked up 11 digs and Julianna Cameron (Moultonborough, N.H.) posted a pair of blocks.
The visitors dropped the opening set 25-15 before clawing back with a 25-17 win in the second frame. The home side prevailed in the third and fourth sets 25-14 and 25-10 en route to snapping a six-match skid.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns to action September 18 at the Saint Joseph's College Autumn Invitational in Standish, Maine. The Lions will battle Husson and UMaine-Presque Isle on the first day before closing out the tournament against the host Monks September 19.
