Jenkins Leads Volleyball Past Curry, 3-1, on Senior Day
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team clinched its first conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon, topping Curry 3-1 at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions rise to 3-20 overall and 1-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the win. The Colonels sink to 6-18 on the year and 0-6 in league action with the loss.
Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.Va.) notched a match-best 22 kills while adding eight digs. Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) posted 11 kills and 14 digs in the win.
Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) recorded 21 digs, eight kills and four aces. Oksana DiCamillo (Nottingham Township, Pa.) collected 16 digs and Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) finished with 37 assists to go with nine digs.
Eastern Nazarene edged Curry 25-23 in the opening set. The Lions doubled their lead to 2-0 with a 25-21 decision in the second frame.
The Colonels cut the deficit to 2-1 after prevailing 25-22 in the third set.
Eastern Nazarene locked up its first league win of the year with a 25-22 victory in the fourth frame.
Curry was led by Nicole Grambley with 14 kills and 18 digs while Courtney Carroll registered 21 digs.
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team recognized the program's lone senior, Kortney Jenkins, in celebration of her four-year career.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host Endicott October 22 in the final home match of the 2014 campaign.
