Volleyball Drops Conference Clash at Wentworth, 3-0
BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback at Wentworth Institute of Technology Tuesday evening.
The Lions dip to 1-13 on the year and 0-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the decision. The Leopards improve to 8-8 overall and 2-1 in league matches with the win.
Senior Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.Va.) led Eastern Nazarene with a 10 kills and 12 digs. Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) notched seven digs and four kills while Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) tallied three kills, six digs and a team-high four solo blocks.
Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) registered 10 assists while adding three digs and one kill. Oksana DiCamillo (Nottingham Township, Pa.) racked up six digs and Madisen Robinson (West Grove, Pa.) finished with five digs on the night
The hosts glided by the Lions in the opening set 25-8 to claim a one-set advantage. Wentworth held off Eastern Nazarene in the second frame 25-23 to increase its lead to 2-0 in the match.
The Leopards locked up the victory with a 25-19 win in the third set to snap a two-match skid.
Sydney Meyers posted a match-high 13 kills in the victory for Wentworth while Sam Curran collected 16 digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns home to take on Rhode Island College October 1 in a non-league bout.
