Volleyball Endures 3-1 Loss at Salem State
SALEM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College volleyball team fell 3-1 at Salem State Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Lions drop to 1-10 overall while the Vikings improve to 1-1 on the season with the result.
Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.Va.) continues to lead Eastern Nazarene offensively, tallying a team-best 11 kills on the day while adding nine digs.
Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) finished with five kills and a pair of blocks in the match. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) paced the Lions with 14 digs in the contest. Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) posted 13 digs, six service aces and four kills.
Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) registered 20 assists, seven digs and a pair of aces on the afternoon.
The home side claimed the opening frame 25-18 before doubling the margin with a 25-20 win in the second set.
Eastern Nazarene clawed back into the match with a 25-22 decision in the third to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Salem State secured its first victory of the season after edging the Lions 26-24 in the fourth set.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will look to halt its seven-match skid as it visits Emerson September 20.
