QUINCY, Mass. – The Eastern Nazarene women’s volleyball team will host a breast cancer awareness fundraiser during its home match against Rhode Island College October 4. The Lions will be a part of the Dig Pink 2012 initiative supported by the Side-Out Foundation.
The Side-Out Foundation (Side-Out) was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Side-Out supports teams nationwide in their volleyball tournaments, clinics and other fundraising efforts. The foundation offers practical support for fundraising in addition to educational material for participants in order to help them become effective advocates for breast cancer.
Dig Pink is The Side-Out Foundation’s trademark name for its fundraising events. All proceeds benefit Side-Out, which in turn awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.
The Lions are one of 54 high school and collegiate teams nationwide that are registered to host a Dig Pink event.
