Track & Field Teams Begin Season at Smith Pioneer Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Smith College Pioneer Invitational Saturday to kick-off the program's first season.

The women's team was represented by eight individuals while the men's squad was comprised of eight student-athletes.

Michelle Detwiler (Elkhart, Ind.) posted top-10 finishes in the 100 meter dash, high jump, and long jump.

Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) earned fourth in the shot put with a toss of 10.19 meters.

Kevin Rop (Silver Spring, Md.) claimed ninth in the 400 meter dash while Paul Chong (Reading, Mass.) captured second in the long jump with a leap of 6.59 meters. Corey Doran (Fairfield, Calif.) cleared 1.73 meters to earn seventh in the high jump.

Up next, the Lions will participate in the Mount Holyoke College Spring Fling April 15.
