Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Season with 5-4 Win Over Saint Joseph (Conn.)
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team capped off the 2021-22 campaign with a 5-4 victory over Saint Joseph (Conn.) Wednesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions finish the season with a 3-11 overall record while the Blue Jays fall to 6-8 on the year.
The hosts notched a pair of doubles wins to grab a 2-1 lead.
Maria Busila (Malaga, Spain) and Katie Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.) topped Carolyn Callahan and Kathleen Gilland 8-5 at the No. 1 doubles position.
Mya Landry (Derry, N.H.) and Madison Rearick (Londonderry, N.H.) earned an 8-3 win at the third doubles spot against Julia Michaud and Anna Nemergut.
Mary Boucher (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Jenna Schlosser (Bridgewater, Mass.) dropped an 8-1 decision to Elaina Griffiths and Ananya Srivatsav at the second slot.
Eastern Nazarene posted three singles victories to collect its fourth victory of the year.
Busila cruised past Gilland 6-1, 6-0 at the top singles position.
Cawthorne chalked up her team-leading sixth singles win of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Srivatsav at the No. 3 slot.
Gisselle Caro (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) prevailed 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot to claim her first collegiate singles win.
Schlosser, Rearick, and Landry absorbed straight-set losses at the second, fourth, and fifth singles positions, respectively.
