Women’s Tennis Clipped by Clark, 6-3
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 setback to Clark Tuesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions slip to 2-11 on the year with the loss while the Cougars improve to 4-3 overall.
The home team tallied a pair of doubles victories to grab a 2-1 edge.
Maria Busila (Malaga, Spain) and Hycell Colmenares Duno (Kissimmee, Fla.) topped Grayson LaCroix and Maeve McEnroe 8-6 at the No. 1 doubles position.
Mya Landry (Derry, N.H) and Madison Rearick (Londonderry, N.H.) downed Ibeth Alvarracin and Mahek Deora 8-6 at the second spot.
Katie Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.) and Jenna Schlosser (Bridgewater, Mass.) fell 8-2 at the No. 3 slot to Hannah Russo and Leilani Brown.
Clark battled back to claim five singles victories to clinch the match, 6-3.
Kari Bollinger (Alton Bay, N.H.) posted the Lions' lone singles victory at the No. 6 position as she outlasted Deora in a third-set super-tiebreaker. After dropping the first set 6-2, Bollinger edged Deora 6-4 in the second set and 11-9 in the super-tiebreaker.
Colmenares Duno fell to LaCroix in three sets at the second slot. Colmenares Duno seized the first frame 7-5 before LaCroix rolled 6-2, 6-1 in the second and third sets.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host Nichols April 1.
