Women’s Tennis Clipped by Curry Monday, 7-2
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team absorbed a 7-2 loss to Curry Monday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions sink to 0-3 on the year with the result while the Colonels improve to 1-1 overall.
Kari Bollinger (Alton Bay, N.H.) and Mary Boucher (Whitinsville, Mass.) notched the home team's lone doubles victory on the day, edging Curry's Samantha Ferrara and Cayla Osowski 8-6 at the No. 2 position.
Katie Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.) and Jenna Schlosser (Bridgewater, Mass.) fell 8-2 at the top spot against Alexandra Borkov and Serena Wilson.
Mya Landry (Derry, N.H.) and Krista Signs (Mashpee, Mass.) dropped an 8-5 decision at the third slot to Grace Coopee and Lily Turner-Burrell.
Cawthorne collected Eastern Nazarene's only singles win in the match, prevailing 6-4, 6-1 over Ferrara at the No. 3 spot.
Boucher fell in three sets in a hard-fought battle at the No. 4 slot. Boucher claimed the first set 6-2 before Osowski rebounded with a 6-3 win in the second frame and a 7-6 victory in the third.
Schlosser and Bollinger each fell in straight sets at the top two positions while Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) and Madison Rearick (Londonderry, N.H.) endured straight-set losses at the fifth and sixth positions.
