Women’s Tennis Rolls to 9-0 Win Over Albertus Magnus
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team coasted past Albertus Magnus 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions improve to 7-2 on the year and 4-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with the victory. The Falcons progress to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in league matches with the result.
Magdalena Hubel (Berlin, Germany) and Emily Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) downed Jessica Coughlin and Mariah Mandulak 8-2 at the top doubles position.
Sharon Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) blanked Cassie Couture and Nallely Magana at the No. 2 spot 8-0.
Maria Busila (Malaga, Spain) and Makayla Grantham (Apalachian, N.Y.) notched an 8-0 win at the third slot over Jan-Naisha Lee and Andreah Orr.
Biondi breezed by Coughlin 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles position to net her third-straight victory.
Ruttkowski earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at the second slot over Mandulak to remain unbeaten in singles action this fall.
Hubel topped Magana 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot to record her third singles win in a row.
Jimenez prevailed 6-0, 6-0 over Couture at the No. 4 position to climb to 8-1 on the year in singles play.
Busila collected her fourth-consecutive singles win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Nayelli Garcia at the fifth spot.
Grantham tallied her second singles win of the season at the No. 6 slot as she downed Orr 6-0, 6-1.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene travels to take on Salve Regina in non-conference competition September 30.
