Women’s Tennis Drops 8-1 Decision to Methodist
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team absorbed an 8-1 loss to Methodist Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions slip to 12-3 on the year with the result while the Monarchs improve to 5-3 overall.
Annelise Sherrill (Elk Grove, Calif.) and Karla Polanco (Revere, Mass.) posted Eastern Nazarene's lone victory in the match with an 8-6 win at the No. 3 doubles position over Casey Carroll and Abby Siracusa.
Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) and Emily Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) dropped a narrow 8-7 decision at the top spot to Abby Caddick and Ashton Walker.
Sharon Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) fell 8-4 to Allison Himes and Jill Lawrence at the No. 2 doubles slot.
Biondi suffered a 6-4, 6-0 setback to Walker at the No. 1 singles position while Ruttkowski absorbed her first singles loss of the year, a 7-5, 6-4 decision at the No. 2 spot to Himes.
Duval fell 6-1, 6-3 to Lawrence in the third singles match and Jimenez dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Taylor Jackson at the fourth slot.
Sherrill lost 8-4 in a pro-set at the No. 5 position to Caddick while Polanco fell at the sixth spot to Catherine Smith 6-4, 7-5.
