Women’s Tennis Finishes Spring Break with 8-1 Loss to Lynchburg
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team wrapped up its trip to the Palmetto State with an 8-1 loss to Lynchburg Friday.
The Lions slide to 11-9 on the year with the setback while the Hornets improve to 6-3 overall.
Veronica Jimenez (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) captured Eastern Nazarene's lone victory, an 8-6 win at the No. 3 doubles position.
Emily Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) and Adele Duval (Reading, Calif.) dropped an 8-3 decision at the top spot to Christina Harris and Caroline Guill.
Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) and Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) absorbed an 8-3 loss to Reagan Coon and Sarah Wyly at the No. 2 slot.
Ruttkowski endured a 6-1, 6-2 setback at the top singles position to Harris. Duval narrowly fell to Halle Lavieri 7-6, 6-4 at the second slot. Steelman suffered a 6-4, 6-0 loss at the No. 3 spot to Wyly.
Jimenez fell to Lilli Altenburg 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 position. Cressman dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision at the fifth spot to Guill. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) lost 6-2, 6-1 in the sixth singles match against Emily Hoang.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene is slated to visit Springfield March 20.
