SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Junior Adele Duval (Reading, Calif.) and rookie Emily Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team each picked up All-Commonwealth Coast Conference accolades, announced the league office Tuesday.
Ruttkowski claimed All-CCC second team honors after posting a 7-3 record in singles action this fall, playing at the top two singles positions. She went 4-3 in conference matches this season.
Duval garnered a spot on the All-CCC third team after compiling a team-best 11-2 singles record on the year. She saw action at the second and third singles positions and went 6-2 in league play this fall.
Duval becomes just the second three-time All-CCC honoree in program history, joining Denise Mingledorff. She earned both second team singles honors and third team doubles accolades as a sophomore and freshman.
The doubles tandem of Duval and Ruttkowski combined to capture All-CCC third team accolades. The duo strung together a record of 3-3 in doubles action this season.
The Lions finished the regular season with a record of 9-4, the most wins since 1996. Eastern Nazarene also posted a mark of 4-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, setting a program-record for most league victories in a season.
Under first-year head coach Jack Sahlman, the Lions returned to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament for the first time since 2004. Eastern Nazarene earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to fourth-seeded Gordon October 11 in the quarterfinals.
