Women’s Tennis Doubles Up UMass Dartmouth, 6-3
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team defeated UMass Dartmouth 6-3 Thursday afternoon in an inter-conference clash.
The Lions improve to 9-4 on the season with the win while the Corsairs sink to 6-4 overall.
Sharon Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) notched an 8-2 victory at the No. 1 doubles position over Jenna Lahaie and Jillian Reichert.
Adele Duval (Reading, Calif.) and Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) rolled past Jaime Fastino and Mollie McCaffrey at the second slot 8-0.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Emily Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) prevailed 8-5 at the No. 3 spot over Molina Oung and Rachel Aftandilian.
Biondi topped Lahaie 6-1, 6-2 at the top position to collect her fourth singles win in a row.
Duval cruised past Kerry Magoon 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot to post her team-leading 11th singles victory of the season.
Steelman recorded her 10th singles win of the year with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 slot over McCaffrey.
Jimenez, Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.), and Angeling Vick (Jamestown, N.Y.) all dropped straight-set decisions at the fourth, fifth, and sixth singles positions, respectively.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will make its first CCC Tournament appearance since 2004 as it travels to Gordon October 11 for a quarterfinal matchup.
