Women’s Tennis Records 8-1 Victory at Mount Ida
NEWTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team notched an 8-1 win at Mount Ida Monday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 7-4 on the year, the most wins in a single season since 1996. The Mustangs fall to 1-6 overall with the result.
Sharon Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) rolled to an 8-0 victory at the No. 1 doubles position over Ginger Boodakian and Cierra Peaslee.
Adele Duval (Reading, Calif.) and Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) cruised past Molly O'Donnell and Amanda Garner at the No. 2 spot 8-0.
Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) topped Yuliana Chairez and Hannah Bassett 8-0 at the third slot.
Biondi breezed by Boodakian at the top singles position 6-1, 6-1.
Duval collected her team-leading ninth singles win of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the second spot over Peaslee.
Steelman blanked O'Donnell 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 slot to earn her eighth singles victory of the year.
Jimenez downed Garner 6-1, 6-0 at the fifth position and Angeline Vick (Jamestown, N.Y.) edged Bassett in a third-set super-tiebreaker at the No. 6 spot to grab her second singles win of the season.
