Women’s Tennis Downed at UMass-Dartmouth, 8-0
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team dropped an 8-0 decision at UMass-Dartmouth Thursday afternoon.
The Lions sink to 4-10 on the year with the result while the Corsairs improve to 6-4 overall.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) suffered an 8-4 setback at the top doubles spot to Jenna Lahaie and Jillian Reichert.
Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) and Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) were edged at the second slot by Mollie McCaffrey and Jaime Fastino, 9-7.
Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) and Mackenzie Miller (James Creek, Pa.) absorbed an 8-1 loss to Kheyla Orival and Samantha Rollings at the No. 3 position.
Duval fell to Lahaie in a tightly-contested matchup at the No.1 slot. Duval conceded the opening set 6-4 before bouncing back to claim the second 7-5. The sophomore came up just short in the third-set super-tiebreaker, 10-7.
Cressman endured a 6-2, 6-2 setback at the third spot to Fastino while Jimenez dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision at the No. 4 position to Rollings.
Sutton fell 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles match against Molina Oung. Joanna Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.) suffered a 6-0, 6-1 setback to Reichert at the sixth slot.
Steelman held a one-set lead over McCaffrey at the No. 2 position but trailed in the second frame when the match was called.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene closes out the fall slate October 13 at Bridgewater State.
