Women’s Tennis Blanks Becker 9-0 in Non-League Action
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Becker Thursday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions improve to 4-8 on the year with the outcome while the Hawks slide to 3-4 overall.
Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) collected their sixth doubles win of the season, downing Jennifer Lord and Jacqueline Andrade at the top slot 8-2.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) defeated Jessica Leger and Dana Mahan 8-1 at the No. 2 position.
Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) prevailed 8-1 at the third spot over Fiona Gilley and Emily Wodell.
At the No. 1 singles position, Duval grabbed her team-leading fifth victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-4 decision against Lord.
Steelman rolled past Andrade at the No. 2 slot 6-0, 6-3 and Cressman breezed by Leger 6-2, 6-1 at the third singles match.
Jimenez topped Mahan 6-1, 6-1 at the fourth spot while Sutton claimed a 6-0, 6-4 win at the No. 5 position over Wodell.
Lariviere triumphed in an eight-game pro-set against Gilley in the No. 6 singles match, 8-2.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host Wentworth in the final Commonwealth Coast Conference clash of the season October 1.
