Women’s Tennis Suffers 6-3 Setback at Salve Regina
NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team absorbed a 6-3 loss at Salve Regina Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions drop to 3-8 on the year and 1-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Seahawks improve to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in league matches.
Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) posted an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 doubles position over Priscilla Gaspard and Emma Gruber.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) dropped an 8-4 decision to Abigail Burke and Anna Godshalk at the second slot.
Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Mass.) and Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) fell to Darcy Carlin and Shealyn Fitzpatrick 8-4 at the third spot.
Duval secured her team-leading fourth singles win of the season, downing Gruber 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot.
Steelman collected a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Gaspard at the second singles match.
Cressman endured a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Burke at the No. 3 slot while Jimenez fell to Godshalk at the fourth position 6-1, 6-3.
Sutton dropped a 6-0, 7-5 decision at the fifth spot to Fitzpatrick and Lariviere suffered a 6-2, 6-4 setback to Sarah Kraus at the sixth slot.
